Board of Directors

The Board of Directors comprises of the President and four members, all of which are pre-selected from a list of candidates by a three-member committee composed of the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank of Greece and the President of the Court of Audit. The nominees are approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and are subsequently appointed by the Minister of Finance.

The time of service for the President of the Board and one member is six years, two members serve for five years and one member serves for four years.

Professor Emeritus, Department of Economics, Athens University of Economics and Business.

PhD in Economics from the University of Rochester (USA), taught at the Universities of Pittsburgh (USA) and Ain-en- Provence (France), and Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business from 1978 until 2013.

Has served as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Greece, Chairman and Managing Director of Ionian Bank, and more recently (2010 – 2013) as President and Scientific Director of the Centre of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE).

Yannis Monogios

YANNIS MONOGIOS is an Economist with specialization on macro-fiscal issues. He has served in various posts in the public and private sectors both in Greece and abroad. He has served as Research Fellow and Head of Fiscal and Monetary Policy at the Centre of Planning and Economic Research in Athens, as a Delegate at the OECD’s Senior Budget Officials and as a member in various Committees in the European Union. He served as an Advisor at World Bank Group Headquarters in the USA and as a Special Advisor and a member of the Council of Economic Advisors at the Greek Ministry of Finance. In addition to those positions he held posts as Manager and Senior Economist in Piraeus Bank in Greece, as a Lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of Athens and as a Consultant in the private sector. He holds a BSc Degree in Economics (with distinction) from the University of Athens, and MPhil and PhD degrees in Economics from King's College, University of Cambridge, UK and also Executive Education at Harvard Kennedy School, USA. He has published domestically and internationally in refereed journals and the press and he has been the author of numerous economic articles and research reports on public finance and the financial markets.

DIMITRIS V. SEREMETIS (1953)

Assoc. Professor in Applied Economics, University of the Aegean (DBΑ – Chios)

Studies: Athens University (BA in Economics) and Paris X-Nanterre University (BA in Econometrics, PhD degree in Planning and the Public Economy).

Positions held: President and Managing Director, 3rd Regional Health System of the Attica Prefecture (PESYP) (2001-03). Adviser, to the Ministry of Health (1993-96) and to the Ministry of the Economy (1989-90).

Research interests: European Integration, Economic Policy, Labor Market Economics.

Prof. Seremetis has a six-year mandate (2015-2021) to the HFC, and he is designated by its Board, as the Deputy President of the HFC.

Εfhymios Tsionas

Εfhymios Tsionas

E. Tsionas is Professor in the Department of Economics at Athens University of Economics and Business. He earned his PhD from the University of Minnesota (1994). He has worked as Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and as advisor to the Council of Economic Advisors of the Greek Ministry of National Economy.

He is Associate Editor in international journals such as Economics, Economic Modelling, Journal of Mathematics etc. He has published widely in such journals as Journal of the American Statistical Association, Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Review of Economic Studies etc.

Nikos Tatsos

Nikos Tatsos

Professor of Public Finance at Panteion University, Athens (1986-2017).  Has taught at the University College of North Wales, the University of Athens and the Hellenic Open University and has worked as a Research Fellow at the Institute of European Finance, the Bank of Greece and the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research.

Has served as Ambassador of Greece to the OECD and as national delegate to various international organizations. His research interest and publications focus on the field of Public Finance.
